One client has a widely dispersed set of consultants and sales people
who travel all over the country. These consultants were hand writing or
typing reports which were filed in the home office. When statistics or
reports were needed, personnel at headquarters would tabulate the data
and prepare the reports.
We met with a wide range of the client's personnel from various departments
and began assessing the full scope of the data that was used to manage
both the consultants and sales executives. After completing this process,
we developed a SQL Server database that tracked the thousands of data
points involved in consultant activity. |
Once the database was finished, we created an extensive Web-based interface
that allows consultants and sales executives to enter data from any location
in the world. Handwritten and typed reports have been replaced with a
fully integrated database.
All of the reports and statistics that were previously calculated by hand
are now automatically generated through reports we developed. The reports
can be exported as either pdf's for employees who can see but not change
data, or as Excel spreadsheets for upper-level executives. Literally thousands
of man-hours each year have been saved. |
